Four Trends That Will Mark Connectivity In 2022

The Car Of 2022 Will Be More Connected

There are currently more and more advances in connected cars and autonomous driving, which will lead to an increase in data demand and the need for low latency. A stable data connection is going to be essential for these vehicles. For example, real-time information about the nearest charging station can be crucial for electric car users.

In this way, we will continue a trend that we already see today: car manufacturers are becoming digital companies next year. These companies will have to decide which systems and services to outsourcing to the big tech companies and which to build and operate in-house.

A New Era Of Data Sharing

In many organizational environments, sensitive data is still shared in physical formats. Therefore, confidential and secure data channels will be developed to solve this problem, as has already arisen with Gaia-X. The basic idea of the project is to create a sovereign European system of secure data exchange installed in a decentralized and interconnected infrastructure.

Thus, while cloud solutions facilitate data storage and management, interconnection platforms will be vital in allowing this data exchange between so many members. These systems enable providers to quickly, securely and directly exchange the data needed to develop or operate complex digital services, such as healthcare digitization or autonomous driving, expected to grow in the coming years.

Together with these systems, the Closed User Groups will also be essential. They allow the different companies to connect to their private networks through an interconnection node, guaranteeing all security measures, which will also mean a change in the way to exchange data.

“Glocalization” Is Gaining Popularity

On the other hand, various new technological applications such as virtual reality, cloud gaming, and the digitization of healthcare, connected and autonomous cars, are creating an increasing demand for the lowest possible latencies. Especially for mobility applications, extremely low latencies of less than a millisecond will be crucial. For this, it will be necessary that the nearest data center is at most 80 kilometers away. Therefore, a centralized Internet structure “can no longer cope with this trend,” the company maintains.

Automation Spreads

Finally, automation will not be just a technology developed in industry and product manufacturing. More and more sectors are developing solutions to automate routine IT tasks to be more flexible, especially in uncertain times like the ones we are experiencing, where flexibility is a crucial asset.
